After School Mandarin Program at Starr King
- Academic enrichment program with an emphasis on reading, writing and public speaking in Mandarin. Other activities include poetry, singing, calligraphy, acting, cooking etc.
- Mandarin homework help provided
- Available only to students in the MI Program, grades 1-5.
- Students are grouped by grade and language proficiency
- Classes are taught two, three, and 5 days per week in semester-long sessions
- 100% Mandarin Language spoken by teachers and students
- Program is NOT intended to be tutoring for students who are identified as needing remedial support
- Program will start the first week of school
- Two options for class length: 1.5 hour academic enrichment and option for additional 1.5 hours aftercare with homework help, Mandarin story time, free play, etc.
- Cost: The cost will remain the same as last year - $12-13/hour for the enrichment period (2:40-4:15pm) and $6/hour for the time after the enrichment period (4:15-6pm). There will also be additional fees for books and supplies.
- Full-time after school Mandarin program: 5 days/week. Cost: $380/month, around $5/hour
- Tuition assistance will be offered if enough sign up.
- Registration will be during the summer and the first week of school. $50/students
- First day of class: Jan.6th, 2014
