The five-day a week before-school Mandarin program at Lawton provides a warm and relaxed learning experience. Our teachers facilitate the children’s learning through Chinese art, songs, games, stories, and other age-appropriate activities. Students learn Mandarin just as they learn English--by living it. These classes will be taught entirely in Mandarin, so that students will be immersed in a Chinese-speaking environment. Through meaningful content and engaging activities, children will acquire Chinese fluency and the disposition to be life-long learners of the language.

Class Hours上课时间
Monday to Friday: 8:15-9:15am Our Mandarin classes at Lawton follow the SFUSD academic calendar and are held only on regular school days. There will be no scheduled classes on the first day of each semester, and during Parent-Teacher Conference Week, as classrooms are not available. |

Tuition: $1,940 Or Monthly Payment: Prorated at $400/month from August to December and January to May. Registration and Insurance: A $90/student/year non-refundable registration fee is required at the beginning of each school year. How do we group students?
We group students based on age, Mandarin proficiency, and classroom assessment results. Our goal is to ensure each child gets the maximum benefit from our program.
Beginner Class – Teacher Anna Tian Laoshi
Designed for: K–2nd Grade
For students who are new to Mandarin, have limited exposure, or understand Mandarin but are not yet reading or writing Chinese characters.
Designed for: 2nd–5th Grade (with 3+ years of Mandarin learning experience with Mei Jia)
For students who can hold basic conversations and have experience reading and writing Chinese.
We group students based on age, Mandarin proficiency, and classroom assessment results. Our goal is to ensure each child gets the maximum benefit from our program.
Beginner Class – Teacher Anna Tian Laoshi
Designed for: K–2nd Grade
For students who are new to Mandarin, have limited exposure, or understand Mandarin but are not yet reading or writing Chinese characters.
- Focus on listening and speaking through songs, games, and basic conversations
- Learn foundational vocabulary and simple sentence structures
- Begin recognizing and writing basic Chinese characters
Designed for: 2nd–5th Grade (with 3+ years of Mandarin learning experience with Mei Jia)
For students who can hold basic conversations and have experience reading and writing Chinese.
- Strengthen speaking fluency and comprehension through storytelling and role-play
- Improve grammar, sentence structure, and reading comprehension
- Write short paragraphs using learned vocabulary and sentence patterns
