The after school Mandarin program at Zion provides a warm and relaxed learning experience. The teacher will facilitate the children’s learning through Chinese art, songs, games, stories, and other age-appropriate activities. These classes will be taught entirely in Mandarin, so that students will be immersed in a Chinese-speaking environment. Through meaningful content and engaging activities, children will acquire Chinese fluency and the disposition to be life-long learners of the language. The classes will meet 2-3 times a week, depending on grade level and will be grouped by Level 1 and Level 2.  Please note that there is a minimum of 6 students required to enroll in order to host the class at Zion.

Which class is right for me?
  • Intermediate class –  This class is for students who can understand the basic conversational Mandarin, as the goal is for the teacher to be speaking Mandarin in class. Students should either have exposure speaking Mandarin at home or have previously participated in a Mandarin-immersion program.
  • Beginning – This class is for students who have no or some prior exposure to Mandarin. The teacher will be speaking a combination of 80% Mandarin and 20% English.
** During the first week, we will observe your child in class and if a switch is necessary, we will
discuss with you switching your child to a different level class.

Note:   If there are less 6 signups, the  class will be cancelled
